Is God Hiding From Me?
Where oh where is God? I am in trouble and I can’t seem to find Him. Is He hiding from me? Am I that terrible that He is running from me?
If you do not understand the character and nature of God, you will think He is so difficult to find. We think He is so busy that He does not have time for me.
Nothing could be further from the truth. First of all, let’s consider the most frequently quoted scripture quoted by Christians from the Bible.
John 3: 16 “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”
That doesn’t sound like a God who is trying to hide from you.
Ephesians 2: 4 – 5 “But God who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ.”
If God was so willing to send Jesus to die for us while we were sinners, why would He then abandon you once you received His Son as your Lord and Savior.
James 4: 8 “Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you.”
Though I believed in Jesus as Lord, I can’t say I had a good relationship with God.
I often tell the story of the lady who was walking toward me on a sidewalk. When she got near me, she looked at my face and pointed her finger at me and said, “Seek the Lord while He may be found.”
Her challenge haunted me until I finally said to God, I want to know You, please show me the way.
Everywhere in the Word of God, it says that if we just open the door, desiring to have a relationship with God, He will honor your request.
I love II Chronicles 16: 9 “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him.”
It sounds to me like God is looking and searching for us.
Back in the 1980’s, I remember the very popular bumper sticker that said, “I found it”. It sounded like you have been on an endless search to find God, when honestly, God has been pursuing you all your life.
Did you finally find Him or did you finally stop long enough for God to catch up to you while you were searching in all the wrong places?
God isn’t hiding from you. Just stop and say, Lord I am here. God just needed you to open your heart to Him. If you truly love God listen to what Jesus said in John 14: 23 “If a man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him and we will come unto him and make our abode with him”
You can’t get any closer to God when God is living in you. Obey the words of Jesus. Invite the Spirit of God to live in you and you will never have to search for God ever again.
