Meditation + Obedience = Benefits

Coming from a scientific background, I have learned to use many formulas that produce the desired results.

Interestingly I have found a formula in the Word of God that promises some great benefits.

The formula is simple: meditate, obey and you receive the benefits.

We see this formula in several places of the Bible.  In Psalm one, after instruction to not follow the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the ways of the sinner, nor sit in the seat of the scornful, we are given a formula which will enable us to prosper in whatsoever we do.

Psalm 1: 2 “but his delight is in the law of the Lord (the Word of God); and in His law (the Word of God) does he MEDITATE day and night”

When we meditate on the Word of God, we learn what God considers right and what He considers wrong. Then we obey what God says to do rather than follow the counsel of the ungodly.  We also will walk in the ways of the Lord rather than the ways of the sinner.

We will also learn not to judge or condemn others.  We also learn to love our enemies; to bless those who curse us; to do good to those who hate us and to pray for those who despitefully use us or persecute us.

When we meditate on the Word of God, we will obey what is right and the promise is that we will prosper in all that we do.

We also see this formula in Joshua 1: 8 “This book of the law (God’s word) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt MEDITATE therein day and night that thou mayest observe TO DO according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy PROSPEROUS and then thou shalt have GOOD SUCCESS.”

Again we see the condition: MEDITATE.  Then we see the obedience: TO DO.  Then we see the benefits: a PROSPEROUS way and GOOD SUCCESS.

Meditate + Obedience = Prosperous and good success.

There are also several other scriptures that follow the same formula.  To meditate means to mutter under your breath.  This is repetitive speaking.  It also means to imagine.

See that promise working in your life. That is called a life of faith which pleases God.  Faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen.

My faith, my meditation on the Word of God with its promise; my seeing in the spirit that promise working in my life is the formula for a faith-filled, prosperous and successful life.

As the Lord told Joshua, the decision to practice this formula will take strength and courage on your part.  Make the decision to obey this formula. Trust in the strength of God to do it and do it despite any obstacle that may try and stop you.

Remember, courage is the decision to accomplish what you have decided to do, despite the fear or opposition of your flesh.

Meditiate + Obedience = Benefits!
