Be Careful Who You Blame

There is a story in Matthew 12: 22 – 32 about the Pharisees giving credit to the devil for the works that the Holy Spirit was doing through Jesus Christ.

Matt. 12: 22 “Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind and dumb; and He healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.”

After seeing such a great miracle the people who witnessed this miracle proclaimed, “Is this not the son of David?”

Upon hearing what the people were saying, the Pharisees proclaimed, “this fellow doth not cast out devils but by the Beelzebub, the prince of the devils.”

In other words, the religious leaders were giving credit to the devil, who they claimed was working through Jesus, for such a great miracle.

Jesus made it very clear as stated in Luke 4: 18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

Jesus made it very clear that He came to do the work of the Holy Spirit.  The Pharisees tried to tell the people Jesus as doing the work of the devil.

In Matt. 12: 31 – 32   Jesus gives us a stern warning about giving credit to the devil for the works of the Holy Spirit. “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy again the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.  And whosever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him ; but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost , it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.”

Jesus made it very clear in John 10: 10 as to who should get the credit for good and who should be blamed for the evil done to men. “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that you might have life and life more abundantly.”

Be very careful who you blame for evil in your life.  I have heard Christians say that God made them sick or put them in an accident for whatever reason.

One person gave thanks to God for causing them to have a terrible accident.  They said that God did it so they could witness to a nurse in the emergency room.  If you were someone who was sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit, could He not have just told you to go witness to that nurse without causing destruction and injury?

James 1: 17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

Study the life of Jesus.  Everywhere He went He did good.

Acts 10: 38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing GOOD and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.”

Be careful who you blame for evil and who you give credit for good.
