Belong to Become
Jan 2012GET INTO A HOUSE OF GOD
Heb. 10: 24 – 25 (Amplified Bible) “And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities. Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together (as believers) as is the habit of some people, but admonishing(warning, urging and encouraging) one another and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.”
Wow! Even in Paul’s time some people had the habit of not assembling with other believers under the teaching gifts of Pastors and teachers. From the establishment of the Tabernacle to the temple to the synagogues and now the church God has established a place for His believers to gather for some important purposes as outlined in Ephesians 4: 11 – 16. Today it is easier than ever to believe you do not need to attend a church. The very fact that the enemy of God has provided so many attractions, distractions and ways to relax after a busy week tells me that going to church is a threat to the enemy of God. I have heard some believers say that they feel it is not necessary for them to attend a church. They feel satisfied enough sitting in front of a TV or their computer or listening to a CD. That is their church. Having done that myself for several years I really never began to grow as a believer until I submitted myself to a church under the leadership and teaching of a God appointed and anointed Pastor.
In Heb. 13: 17 we read that we are to submit ourselves to our spiritual leaders. Our faithfulness, loyalty and submission to God’s leaders are an expression of our faithfulness, loyalty and submission to God. In Malachi 3: 10 we are told to bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. The storehouse is where you are fed the Word of God. It is also defined as the armory: where you are equipped with the weapons of our warfare. It is also where we have the opportunity to love and serve one another. It is also the place where we can gather with other believers to worship and praise the name of the Lord. Psalm 27: 6 “And now shall mine head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; therefore will I offer in His tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing yea I will sing praises unto the Lord.” Psalm 92: 13 “Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.” If there was one thing that I believe really distinguishes a mature believer from others is their faithful and consistent attendance to a church. Ephesians 4: 11 – 16 tells us the purpose for you to go to church faithfully and consistently. Bottom line: maturity, stability and community. To fully become what God wants you to become you should seek to belong to a local church where you are taught the truths in the Word of God; where you are taught on the weapons of our warfare; where you can love and serve others.
Belong to become. Find yourself a house of worship where God has placed His blessing. In that house you will find direction, correction and protection. Don’t conform to the world’s opinion of church but be transformed by the teaching of the Word of God and find a place to worship God by your giving and your serving.
